To Whom It May Concern:
As a consumer and a person deeply concerned about breast cancer, I am writing to you regarding the use of harmful chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products. I applaud Avon and Estee Lauder for taking an important first step towards making safer cosmetics by pledging to phase out the use of dibutyl phthalates in their products. I am calling on Revlon, Mary Kay, Avon, and Estee Lauder to follow through on their commitment to breast cancer issues by:
- Removing all parabens and phthalatesendocrine-disrupting compounds that may be linked to breast cancerfrom all of their products,
- Reformulating all products for the U.S. and overseas markets according to the safety standards set by the European Union, which will prohibit the use of certain carcinogens, mutagens, and reproductive toxins in cosmetics,
- Respecting consumers’ right-to-know about the products they purchase by disclosing all product ingredients,
- Being transparent about funds the companies raise for breast cancer and where and how the money is spent.
Sincerely,
